A woman who is attempting to conceive should be aware that many different parts of the reproductive system are involved in conception, and all of these components need to be in good health. For instance, a woman’s ovaries must produce an egg each month, a process known as ovulation; her uterus must be free of any abnormalities, such as fibroid, adenomyosis, polyps, etc.; and finally, the fallopian tubes, which are connected to the uterus bilaterally, should be open and in good health. A woman may have difficulties becoming pregnant if any one of these reproductive organs isn’t working correctly. The uterus is connected to the fallopian tubes, which are fertilized by the egg and sperm released from the ovary during ovulation. The developing embryo then travels through the fallopian tubes until it reaches the uterus, where it is implanted into the uterine lining. It follows that either no fertilization will occur or the embryo will not survive in the tube if the fallopian tubes are diseased or obstructed.
