The fallopian tubes need to be healthy and open in order to become pregnant. Tests for tubal patency are fertility examinations that look for adhesions and obstructions in the fallopian tubes. It is estimated that between 15% and 20% of people experience infertility due to tubal abnormalities. Tubal examination is the first course of fertility investigation that Birla Fertility & IVF recommends. Tubal patency testing is advised for couples who have not been able to conceive after a year of consistent unprotected sexual activity and who do not have a clear cause for their infertility, as well as for couples who have previously failed IUI therapies. Tubal patency tests are especially recommended for women who have had surgery, endometriosis, or pelvic infections because these women are more likely to have obstructions.
